All of us always hear about Lady Gaga and her crazinesses in the magazines and social media. But this time the situation is a little different .Because she mentioned about her rape for
the first time through her song,’Till It Happens To You’.It is highly likely to be one of the most difficult experiences a woman could have.Nevertheless, she did not hesitate to tell about it.
When the incident happened,Lady Gaga was just 19 years old and her assaulter was 20 years older than her.She still was a teenager. She says:’’I didn’t tell anyone for, I think, seven years.”
Lady Gaga adds:’ “I didn’t know how to think about it. I didn’t know how to accept it. I didn’t know how not to blame myself, or think it was my fault. It was something that really changed my life. It changed who I was completely. When you go through a trauma like that, it doesn’t just have the immediate physical ramifications on you. For many people it has almost, like, trauma. When you re-experience it throughout the years after it, it can trigger patterns in your body of physical distress. So a lot of people suffer from not just emotional and mental pain, but physical pain as a result of being abused, raped, or traumatized in some type of way.”
Lady Gaga shares her pain with these words:’After it happened, I’m like, ‘But what did I do in my life to bring this upon myself?’ There was some sort of maybe religious guilt attached to it that I had somehow inspired the violence.
‘Because of the way that I dress, and the way that I’m provocative as a person, I thought that I had brought it on myself in some way – that it was my fault.’
Her another song ‘Swine’is also about rape.
Lady Gaga mentions tells about it: “I wrote a song called ‘Swine.’ The song is about rape. The song is about demoralization. The song is about rage and fury and passion, and I had a lot of pain that I wanted to release. I said to myself, ‘I want to sing this song while I’m ripping hard on a drum kit, and then I want to get on a mechanical bull’—which is probably one of the most demoralizing things that you can put a female on in her underwear—’and I want this chick to throw up on me in front of the world so that I can tell them, you know what? You could never, ever degrade as much as I could degrade myself, and look how beautiful it is when I do.”
Lady Gaga thinks in this way:’You can own your pain and it can be a good part of you.’So,she certainly encourages all women having experienced sexual harassment to overcome it by themselves. And also she imposes the idea that they are powerful enough to manage to it.
