The fashion colour of 2016 is a huge leap from 2015, in fact it is much different from the previous years as well. For starters, the fashion colour of 2016 is not one but two colours. Pantone colour of year selected Rose Quartz and Serenity (PANTONE 13- 1520 & PANTONE 15- 3919).
For 2015, Pantone selected Marsala to be the year’s colour. We saw the colour in everything from fashion to interior design. But Marsala’s life under the limelight was short, it was the huge deal for a couple of months but when spring kicked in the dark tone lost it’s fame and glory.
This time around the colour probably get more in fashion when spring comes around. The soft tones of Rose Quartz and Serenity look good on anything from furniture to food and when spring comes they will blossom as well.
The two colours are pretty much opposite in the spectrum and it is the use of them together that really catches the eye. Used separately, the soft blue and pink colours are not too revolutionary in fashion or anywhere else. I mean, they are great colours to begin with but you really get to appreciate them more when combined.
Pantone saw this coming and helped everyone appreciate them by shining a light on them. Now that they are declared- or perhaps foreseen- to be the fashion colour of 2016, they have a pretty good chance to be used, overwhelmingly!
Good thing they are such a soft and easy on the eye colours! We will be seeing a lot more of the Rose Quartz and Serenity combo this year.
The two colours look great on every surface, but mind that it is their combination that really makes it stand out. Used separately neither Rose Quartz nor Serenity look like spectacular colours. In fact they are kinda like the baby boy and baby girl colours. But this is sort of the message “gender blurring” is all about!
